Bob Beckert lost his life in an automobile accident at age 46. He grew up in Warren, NJ. Bob was a graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren and was a member of the 1974 NJ State Championship Cross Country Team and an Eagle Scout. After attending Northeastern University in Boston, Bob married his high school sweetheart and settled down in Watchung, where he lived for 21 years. Together they raised their four children; Kaitlin, Kristin, Brittany and Brian.
Bob was an active member of his church, St. Marys Stony Hill Church in Watchung. He served on the Parish council and had taught CCD for 10 years. Bob was also very involved in his community; serving as Tiger Cub Leader and was a former Little League coach. He was also a member of the Watchung Optimist Club where he served as President in 1997. He loved to ski, run, sail, hike and bike. Above all, Bob was the ultimate family man.
On behalf of the Bob Beckert Memorial Fund Committee, we would like to welcome you to help us celebrate the life and cherished memories of Bob Beckert. Each year, the local community gathers in remembrance of Bob during a fun and high-energy Memorial 5k. The race proceeds and donated funds are contributed towards scholarships for deserving Watchung Hills Regional High School graduating seniors and youth organizations in the local community.
Thank you,
The Bob Beckert Memorial Fund Committee
